He was predeceased by: his parents, Asa M. Hertzler and Rebecca Shenk Hertzler; his former wife Rebecca Henkels Hertzler; and his siblings, Alvin, Alice, Amy and Joseph.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jean Cross; his daughters, Joan Hooley (Delmar) of Bayse and Jean Koshy-Hertzler (Jose) of Houston, Texas; his stepson Jonathan Cross (Sarah Sutherland); his grandchildren, Derrick Hooley, Ryan Hooley, Rahel Koshy, Olivia Koshy (Tony Puthumana) and Liza Koshy; and his brother David Lowell Hertzler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community (VMRC) Compassion Endowment Fund.
