He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Ward and Hazeltine Davis Butler; his wife Martha "Marty" Bell (S. Navy); and his daughter Kelly. He was also cherished by his wife of almost 59 years, his children and their spouses, his 14 grandchildren and two spouses, and his two great-granddaughters.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Providence Baptist Church (1441 Erickson Ave, Harrisonburg, VA 22801).
