He was predeceased by: his wife Eva Oakes; his parents, Arvie Oakes and Mamie Oakes; and his sister Garnett Barton (Leslie "Red"). He is survived by: his children, Maurice (Rita), Janet, Richard (Pam) and Terry (Kim); and his sister-in-law Lillian Barton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.
