He is survived by: his wife Sally Pendleton Campbell; his grandson Hugh S. Campbell (Trish) of Hanover; his great grandchildren, Hugh Braden and Grace; his granddaughters, Susan C. Meyer (Charlie) of Crozier and Virginia; his great grandchildren, Caroline (Dillon), Meg and Charlie IV (Bronwyn); his grandchild Barret C. Butler (Bryan) of Charlotte; his great grandchildren, Anne Forrest, Cricket and Roane; his granddaughter Elizabeth C. Rockwell (Edward) of Raleigh; and his great grandchildren, Fenwick, Ella and Lawrence. He is also survived by his four sisters-in-law and their spouses, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Preservation Virginia (http://www.preservationvirginia.org) in his honor for the benefit of Scotchtown, the home of Patrick Henry, or to the Fork Episcopal Church.
