He was predeceased by: his parents, John Shanes and Elsie Shanes of Richmond, VA.; and his niece Jill Stainback. He is survived by: his sister Barbara Shanes; his niece Erin Sauvager (Adam); his great-nephew Cole; and his great-niece Ella.
