He is survived by: his brothers, Johnny Greene Hayes and Donald Hayes; his sister-in-law Peggy Hayes Alligood; his brother Jonathon Jessup; his nieces and nephews, Silas Jessup, Kelly (Lisa), Brett (Kelly), Kevin (Marina), Ian Hayes, Lisa Schlickenmeyer (Glen) and Lindsay Tronson (David); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Borden, Maggie Hayes, Emily Bourke, Max, Audrey Schlickenmeyer, Ned, Will Hayes, Kelsie, Anna, Sasha Hayes, Josie, Kara Tronson and Alyssa Cohen.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in William's memory may be made to the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, the Salvation Army, or Operation Smile.
