She was predeceased by: her husband Rufus Ray McGowan; her parents, Benjamin Moore and Beatrice Pierce; and her sons, Anthony Taliaferro and Jamar Mitchener.
She is survived by: her extended family Ernestine Hill; her daughters, Brenda and Linda Taliaferro; and her grandchildren, Toni, Montae, Nikki, Kioca, Terrian and Kwamé Taliaferro. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
