It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sandra Artis (Hampton, Virginia), born in Newport News, Virginia, who passed away on February 10, 2021, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, George Melvin and Virginia Melvin; her husband Curtis L. Artis, Sr.; her granddaughter Lakeia Griffin; and her sister-in-law Mary Walloe.

She is survived by: her children, Carleen Artis Edwards, Terry Griffin and Curtis Artis, Jr.; her grandchildren, Willie Marc Edwards Jr., Carlin Edwards (Kimesha), Jonathan Griffin (Natayah), Tishawna Artis, Caaliyah Artis and Deonta Griffin; her siblings, Tyrone Melvin (Polly), James Melvin (Deborah), Gloria Melvin Cox, Elmira Melvin Pitchford, Gwendolyn Melvin Banks (Kenneth) and Joyce Melvin-Jones (Carter); her siblings-in-law, Ivory Artis (Chris), Shirley Artis-Moore (Larry), L. Levern Hicks (Matthew), Paulette Williams (Charlie), Lillie (Vann) of Tennessee and Linda Edmonds (James); her goddaughter Terri McAdams Keesee; and her niece Pamela Cox. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and lifelong friends.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private memorial service will be held for immediate family only.
