She was predeceased by: her parents, Jack Wheeler and Gertrude Davis; her former husband Alton M. Yates Jr.; and her husband Charles A. Gwaltney. She is survived by: her son Alton M. Yates III (Joyce) of Hampton, Virginia; her granddaughter Amy M. Smith (Brandon) of Chesapeake, Virginia; her great grandchildren, Gavin and Declan; and her niece Linda Arthur of Hughesville, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
