Leonora Jane Bigham Sulzberger Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Leonora Jane Bigham Sulzberger of Hampton, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 6, 2025 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonora Camilla Groves Bigham and Franklin Rutherford Bigham; and her stepsiblings, Phelps, Richard, Peter Pennington and Ann Poovey.
She is survived by: her husband Emil Joseph "E. J." Sulzberger, Jr.; her children, Jennifer Sulzberger (Robert DuCharme) and Robert Sulzberger; her grandchildren, Kyle Sulzberger, Madeline DuCharme (Sanjay Palat), Audrey Sulzberger (Brooks Monaghan) and Alice DuCharme; and her brother Robert Bigham (Beverley). She is also survived by three great-grandsons.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Christopher Newport University (1 Avenue of the Arts, Newport News, VA 23606).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Jane B. Sulzberger LifeLong Learning Society Director's Discretionary Account Fund at CNU.
