She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Griffin Sr. and Ziddie Brown Griffin; and her husband Clinton C. Carter. She is survived by: her siblings, Gene S. Griffin (Gloria), Frank Griffin Jr. (Phyllis), Vernil N. Griffin and Zettie L. Cox (Curtis); her daughter Hattie H. Dudley (David); her grandsons, Dominique James and Quinton Carter; her children, Clinton O. Carter (Joyce) of Portsmouth, Cynthia Echols of Hampton, Calvin E. Carter of Colorado, Michael A. Carter (Mary) of Hampton, Juliette Carter Marshall (Reginald) of Hampton, Patricia Carter-Mitchell (Emanuel) of Hampton, Tonia Carter of Charlottesville and Arthur Carter of Hampton; and her cousins, Waverly Thomas Llewellyn McWhite of Hampton and Wilbur "Tonto" Roberts of Hampton. She is also survived by grandkids, great grandkids, great-great grandkids, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
