He is survived by: his children, Emily Jennings Pittman (Steven) of Elberon, Sarah Elizabeth Jennings (Jason Beckner) of Hayes, Clara Grace Walker (CJ) of Newport News and Steven James Jennings of Hampton; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Samuel Pittman, Tyler Jennings, John, Penelope Beckner and Chloe Walker.

“I will remember John as a loving person. He and I worked for the same organization and became good friends. John would stop by every morning to ask how I was and give a friendly hug. I called him my weather man. John always called to make sure I kept safe during severe weather warnings. Even after we both left the job we managed to stay in touch. We spoke on the phone every few weeks just to check on each other. I will miss John. You are all in my prayers. Blessings from Cookie.”
