He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Vastia Kee of Virginia and William Augusta Hunter; and his siblings, Herbert Hunter, Herman Hunter, Melvin Hunter and Gladys Mitchell.
He is survived by: his children, Leslie Hunter (Tangelia), Bruce Hunter (Ruby), Michael Hunter (Rhonda), LaVerne Mason (Anton), Victoria Beckles (Cordelle), Venessa Adams (Christopher), John Hunter, Jr. (Tabori), William Hunter (Kenita), Christopher Hunter (Travé) and Deanna Hunter; and his siblings, Melgrew Hunter and Ernestine White. He is also survived by his 10 children, 23 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
