It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Jackson of Hampton, Virginia, born in Dyersburg, Tennessee, who passed away on February 21, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her grandparents, Frank and Tennie Sanders; her parents, Robert L. McElrath and Mattie P. Hill; and her husband James Jackson, Sr..
She is survived by: her children, Jacqueline McElrath Thompson (Kevin) of Hampton, VA and James Jackson, Jr. of Hampton. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, and friends.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home (4304 Victoria Blvd, Hampton, VA 23669). A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
