He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Penny and Richard Penny; his sons, Anthony "Petey" Penny, Michael Penny and Leroy Parham, Jr.; and his close friend Deloris "Lois" Newsome.
He is survived by: his children, Penny P. Wright (John), Andrew "Dwight" Penny, Sr. (Tracey) and Melvin L. Payton. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
