With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elsie Mae Godwin of Hampton, Virginia, who passed away on January 27, 2024 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Vance Deal and Madeline Rooks Deal; her husband Cecil T. Godwin; her siblings, Emily Beavers and Daniel Deal; her daughter-in-law Debbie Godwin; and her close friend Don Gardner.
She is survived by: her children, Bethany H. Strachan (Thomas Strachan, Jr.), Ronnie Godwin and Kevin Godwin (Mandy Godwin); her grandchildren, Amanda Ross (Jeremy Ross), Stephanie Wolkowich (Georgia Wolkowich), Christopher Wolkowich (Sierra Palush) and Jason Godwin (Melinda Godwin); and her great grandchildren, Chloe Wolkowich, Lily Wolkowich, Falon Ross, Finley Ross and Vinny Godwin.
Should you prefer, the family asks that contributions to Providence Freewill Baptist Church be made in the memory of Elsie Mae Godwin in lieu of flowers.
