It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edward Gillis Jr. of Hampton, Virginia, born in Halifax, Virginia, who passed away on October 25, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Thornton Gillis, Sr. and Gloria Watson Gillis; and his sister Geraldine Pugh. He is survived by: his children, LaShonda Gillis and Lamont Gillis (Shelita); the mother of his children Paula Gillis; his grandchildren, DeAndre Gillis, Jayla Gillis, Judah Gillis and Josiah Chandler; his sisters, Evelyn Powell and Ruth Yvonne Dabney (John); and his brother-in-law Frizell Pugh, Sr.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
