It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Jean Barnes (Hampton, Virginia), born in Farmville, North Carolina, who passed away on December 4, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Reverend Jessie L. Williams and Evangelist Inez R. Williams; her husband James E. Barnes; and her sibling Shirley Godfrey. She is survived by: her children, James Williams, Reginald Williams, Chrystal Barnes and Sherry Jarrett; her grandchildren, Donnell Jarrett, Mark Jarrett, Reginald Washington, Lakisha Jarrett, Christopher Williams, Travis Barnes and Juwell Pope; and her siblings, Jessie Williams, Inez Knight (George), David Williams, Shelia Everett (Roderick) and Sharlene Woolard (Daniel). She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Tuesday, December 10th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple (3100 Butternut Dr, Hampton, VA 23666).
