He was predeceased by: his mother Beatrice Gilliam Daye; his adoptive parents, Fleeta M. Humphries Burton and Rev. Benjamin Burton, Sr.; and his brother Bruce Daye. He is survived by: his sons, Hicham Hamadi (Nadia) of Tangier, Morocco and Krist Inmanee of Bangkok, Thailand; his grandchildren, Tasnime, Islam and Hayan; his siblings, Lorraine Somerville, Pamela Graves of Hampton, VA, Linwood Daye of Newport News, VA and Benjamin Burton, Jr. of Norfolk, VA; his cousin Patricia Lipscomb of Hampton, VA; and his close friends, Bonnie Stone of New York City, Dr. Sang-Yeun Shim of New York City and Norman Trosten of New York City.
