She was predeceased by: her parents, Dorthy Nelson and Paul Nelson; and her sister Tina. She is survived by: her brother David; her husband Mike Smith; and her children, Kari, Chris, Andrew and Erin.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 12th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Hamilton Baptist Church (16 E Colonial Hwy, Hamilton, VA 20158).

She didn't like to cook but could cook better than anyone and even authored a cookbook to raise money for the Home School Foundation.
