She was predeceased by: her parents, Marshall William Slayton and Katherine Moore Slayton; her husband Cyrus Wade Shortt; her son Michael Wade Shortt; her grandson Daniel Scott Shortt; and her brothers, Franklin Marshall Slayton, William W. Slayton and Charles Wayne Slayton.
She is survived by: her son Cyrus William "Bill" Shortt of Halifax; her grandsons, Andrew Michael Shortt (Cassandra) of Charlotte, NC and Matthew Wells Shortt (Bobbi Jo) of Charlotte, NC; her daughter-in-law Kathy Shortt of Charlotte, NC; her niece Mary Marshall Schirtzer of Winter Park, FL; her great grandchildren, Avery, Cole, Asher, Liam and Halle; and her nieces and nephews, Marshall Slayton, George Slayton, Sara S. Hodges, Robin Hinton, Kim S. White and Angie S. Price.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Beth Car Baptist Church (25 Church St, Halifax, VA 24558).
