It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dolphus E. Burkett of Gum Spring, Virginia, born in New Bern, North Carolina, who passed away on August 3, 2020, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his son Justin. He is survived by: his wife Faye M.; his children, Timothy (Meaghan) and Jessica Slusher (Jason); his grandchildren, Hannah, Noah, Ruth, Lydia Burkett, Bailey and Addison Slusher; his mother Doris Burkett; and his sisters, Gail Harrison (Billy) and Jill Rand (Gary). He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

We will be following COVID-19 restrictions set forth by the Governor of Virginia on face-covering and social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gum Spring UMC, 191 Cross County Rd.; Gum Spring, Va 23065.
