He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Hutchinson Thornbury (Patti); and his sister Francis Thornbury White. He is survived by: his children, Britton Grace, William Chase Thornbury III, Steven C. Thornbury, Teresa Thornbury Kern, Lindsey Ann Ratliff of PharmD, BS, D. Michael Kern, Jr., David Christopher Thornbury (Rebecca), Abigail Carmen Thornbury, Katherine Chase Thornbury, John Carl Thornbury, Joel Craig Thornbury, Phoebe Cayia Thornbury, Jade Coyer Thornbury, Neil and ScD; his stepchildren, Reece Coyer Thornbury, Walker Chase Thornbury, Ruby Ellen Coffey and MsEd (James Coffey); his stepgranddaughter Kathleen; his stepdaughter Molly Ruth Coffey; his pet Lucy; and his sister Dorothy Thornbury Dowden. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wealth of treasured friends.
Although Mass will be held in a well-ventilated space accommodating social distancing and the Honors Service will be held outside, the current climate of Covid-19 will limit gathering.
