He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Ray and Betty Sword Matney; his grandparents, Clarence Edward, Beulah Jane Barrowman Sword, Anthony Walter and Nettie Toler Matney; his siblings, Brenda Campbell, Glenda Shortridge, Johnny Ray Matney, Rodney Lynn Matney and Randy Dean Matney; and his niece Makayla Malcolm.
He is survived by: his sisters, Linda Matney of Roanoke, VA, Nettie Sue Matney of Florida, Karen Ann Matney of Big Rock, VA, Ronda Kay Matney of Tazewell, VA and Amanda Brock (Larry) of Georgia; his aunt Lois Ball (Doug) of Ohio; and his cousins, Tommy Allen and Sherry Osborne. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations to be made to Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Homes, Grundy, VA.
