He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Ralph and Daisey Viola Yates. He is survived by: his wife Stella Louise Yates (Vandyke) of Little Prater, Virginia; his daughters, Christie Yates Plymal (Craig) of Grundy, Virginia and Coty Yates Crigger (Tom) of Grundy, Virginia; his granddaughter Kennedi Plymal of Grundy, Virginia; his siblings, Inez Pugh and Ralph Yates (Janet) of Vansant, Virginia.; his nieces, Allison Lineberry, Leigh Anne Brooks and Bobbi Nicole Ratliff; and his nephew Brandon Yates.
