She was predeceased by: her parents, Alden Hess and Allie Stiltner Hess; her husband Joseph Benjamin Simmons; her son Earl Roger Simmons; her siblings, Inez Ramey, Judy Ann Stiltner, Geneva Singleton, Dallas "Sam" Hess, Ervin Hess and Finus Hess; and her granddaughter Phyllis Lynn.
She is survived by: her children, Karen Lee Burks (Donald) of Indian Trial, NC, Joseph Terry Simmons of Grundy, VA and Steven Douglas Simmons (Cheryl Kramer) of Myrtle Beach, SC; her siblings, Geraldina Blazine of Lorain, OH and Leonard Alden Hess of Christmas, FL.; and her grandchildren, Kimberly, Angela, Benjamin and Christopher. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
