He was predeceased by: his parents, James Holly Boyd and Sara Ann Deel Boyd; his wife Edna Carol Hibbitts Boyd; and his siblings, Mable Boyd Hagy, Fanny Boyd Pruitt, Arthur and Steve Boyd.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Jean Rowlett (Darrell) of Rutherfordton, NC, Beverly Kay Moon (James William) of Forest City, NC, Jennifer Kim Calhoun (Brad) of Grundy, VA and James Kenard Boyd, Jr.; his sisters, Lucy Thomas of Charlotte, NC, Avanell Boardwine of Grundy, VA and Josephine Hibbitts of Grundy, VA; his half-sisters, Becky Boyd of Russell Prater, VA and Mattie Boyd of Hurley, VA.; his grandchildren, Chastity, Christie, Jimmy, Courtney and Latosha; and his great grandchildren, Noah, Jonah, Kiera, Bella, Zaden and Christian. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
