With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Hillard Benjamin Ratliff of Grundy, Virginia, who passed away on September 28, 2021 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Ratliff and Corria Ball Ratliff; and his siblings, Leon, Zed, Russ, Don Wes "Duck" Ratliff and Evelyn Calhoun.
He is survived by: his wife Suby Carletta Church Ratliff of Grundy, VA; his children, Carroll Vandyke (James) of Grundy, VA, Jim D. Ratliff (Patricia) of Grundy, VA and Joseph Ratliff (Barbara) of Abingdon, VA; his brother Sid Ratliff (Sue) of Grundy, VA.; his grandchildren, Holly Baldwin, Missy Cowley, Jim Ratliff, Tim Ratliff, Ben Baldwin, Stephanie Holland and Tonya Blankenship; his great grandchildren, Conner Ratliff, Katlyn Ratliff, Ben Ratliff, Ashley Lee, Jackson Holland, Patrick Holland, Taylor Hardy and Tiffany Dale; and his great great grandchildren, Landon Dale, Seeley Dale and Jenson Dale. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home, Keen Mountain Saturday from 12:00 noon to the funeral hour at 1:00 p. m. In observance of COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing will be observed, and the wearing of masks is required for attendance.
