He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Arey and Betty Arey (Hawkins); his son Dale Shumaker; and his aunt Dorothy Hawkins. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Arey (Cootes); his stepdaughter Virginia Glover (Jorge "Flex"); his grandchildren, Heather Mongold (Colton), Nathsha Shumaker (Ryan), Lyndsey Burgess (Mike), Christopher Celmer (Michael), Josie Smith and Sebastian Smith (Myka); his great grandchildren, Ryley, Lilly, Oliver, Keegan, Kai and Savannah; and his daughter-in-law Stephanie Shumaker.
