He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Via and Elizabeth Via (Batton); his wife Janet Via (Royer); and his siblings, Dewey Via, Jr., Emma Shifflett and Maetil Lawson.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Cathie Lipscomb (Patrick), Janet Quesinberry (Eric), Tim Heiston (Margaret) and Robin Hogue (Jeff); his caregiver Rodney Via; and his sister-in-law Violet Via. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; special great-nephew.
A graveside service was held on Sunday, February 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens (3289 Spotswood Trail, Harrisonburg, VA 22801).
