He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Hauser Kemp and Alta Hines Kemp; and his siblings, Gordon Kemp, Billy Kemp and Geraldine Linder.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Kemp; his children, Melody Thompson (Timothy Garrett) of Danville and Samuel Kemp (Rodney Burley) of Farmville; and his grandchildren, Amy Jean Thompson and Noah Allen Hardy.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Colbert-Moran Funeral Home in memory of Richard Kemp to assist with funeral expenses.
