He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivory Toy Rorer and Janie Brooks Rorer; his son Billy Joe "B. J." Rorer; and his siblings, Russell Rorer and Ruby Jean Dillard.
He is survived by: his wife Debra Ann Wheeler Rorer; his children, Johny Treadway Rorer, Jr. of Chatham, Sharon Lynne Rorer of Chatham and Patricia Cox of Chatham; his stepsons, Bubba Auvil (Missy) of Mississippi and Bart Auvil; and his sisters, Connie Austin of Lynchburg, Dot Mitchell of Altavista and Jeanette Locklear. He is also survived by six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
