It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Herbert Clay of Gretna, Virginia, born in Halifax, Virginia, who passed away on June 30, 2022, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Swanson Roland Clay, Sr. and Madeline Waller Clay; and his sister Vernelle Johns. He is survived by: his wife Peggy T. Clay; his children, Jason H. Clay (Stephanie) of Mooresville, NC and Kimberly McKeldin (Nathan) of Leesville; his siblings, Swanson Clay, Jr. (Sarah) of Roxboro, NC and Marjorie Seamster (Jimmy) of Chatham; and his grandchildren, Abigail McKeldin, Charlotte Clay and Cooper Clay.
Due to COVID a private funeral service will be conducted Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Lynn Marstin.
