He was predeceased by: his father Rev. William David "Bill" Lilly. He is survived by: his mother Phyllis Young Lilly; his wife Dale Tosh Lilly; his children, William David Lilly of Lynchburg and Jessica Lilly Godfrey (Mark Ian Godfrey) of Dublin; and his sister Jennifer Swart (Mark) of Altavista.
