He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Carter and Pearl Lovelace Carter; his wife Ella Davis Carter; and his siblings, Sara Hubbard, Earnestine Scott, Pearl Baker, Dorothy Davis, Raymond Carter, John Carter and Dolphus Carter.
He is survived by: his children, Roy Davis (Veronica) of Rockford, Susan Hall of Wilmington, Linda Carter of Gretna, Clyde Carter, Jr. (Doris) of Altavista, Brenda Freeman of Gretna, Judy Oakes of Gretna, Clara Carter of Gretna, Keshale Gunter of Greensboro, Javon Carter of Winchester, Rachel Perkins of Chatham and Jeromie Prunty of Chatham, Virginia; his siblings, Dave Carter (Delores) of Newark, Mary Eliza Stone of Danville, Pauline West of Lynchburg and Corrine Rosser of Long Island, Virginia; and his caregivers, Michell Hodnett, Roger Hodnett, Larry Hodnett and Fannie Pannell. He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home (668 Zion Rd, Gretna, VA 24557). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at the Carl O. Moran Memorial Park (307 Main St, Gretna, VA 24557).
