He is survived by: his wife Christine Gibson Payne; his sons, Todd Payne of Chatham and Bryan Payne of South Carolina; his stepchildren, Kyle Shelton (Deana) of Chatham and Marlene Sowers (Roy) of Danville; his sister-in-law Bonnie Payne of Chatham; his grandchildren, Drew Payne (Norah) of Chatham, Blair Payne (Chandler Edwards) of Chatham and Colby Payne of Chatham; his stepgrandchildren, Lauren White (Gary) of Chatham, Michael Shelton of Chatham, Amanda Shelton of Chatham and Nathan Shelton of Chatham; and his stepgreat-granddaughters, Hailey Harris, Megan White, Breanna White and Kristin White. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
