She was predeceased by: her parents, John Buchanan and Alice Buchanan (Shickel). She is survived by: her husband Leonard Swortzel of Greenville; and her sons, Kirk Swortzel (Dawn) of Starkville, MS, Eric Swortzel of Greenville and Mark Swortzel (Claire) of Lexington. She is also survived by four grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.

Memorial donations may be made to Old Providence ARP Cemetery, 1005 Spottswood Road, Steeles Tavern, VA, 24476.
