He was predeceased by: his parents, James Vernon Matthews and Helen Lee Bundick Matthews; and his wife Peggy June Isdell Matthews. He is survived by: his siblings, Norman, Edward Lee Matthews and Barbara Susan Matthews; his granddaughter Tracy A. Matthews; his children, Barbara L. Matthews of Greenbush, Frederick Thomas "Freddie" Matthews (Carol Jean) of Parksley, VA, David L. Matthews of Parksley and Ronnie Wayne Matthews (Barbara) of Greenbush; his granddaughters, Tammy M. Selby (Bobby), Kristin M. Daniels (Billy), Katie M. Kelley (Ward), Holly L. Matthews and Heather L. Matthews; and his great grandchildren, Robert S. Fetterman IV, Bradley W. Matthews, Tracy B. Selby, Meredith K Daniels, Micah S. Daniels, Everly B. Daniels, Horace E. Kelley V and Walker T. Kelley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
