She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Lacy Hatchell and Edna Irene Cliborne Hatchell; her daughter Rita S. Berry; her son-in-law David Berry; and her stepfather Charles Clifford Blanchard.
She is survived by: her husband Clyde Bowman; her son Edward R. Shorter, Jr. (Cheri); her grandchildren, Trae Shorter (Jessica) and Matthew Ryan Shorter (Amanda); her great grandchildren, Caydence Marie Shorter, Lane Hudson Shorter, Colburn Ramsey Shorter and Riley Faith Shorter; and her siblings, Karen Mitchell Shinabeck and Kenneth Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, she asked that donations be made to the Burkeville Baptist Church or Meherrin SPCA.
