He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Ritchie and Edna Ritchie; his brother George Ritchie; and his parents-in-law, Vivian and Charles Thacker.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Lelia Ritchie; his children, Kay Wright (Rick), Charles Ritchie, Margaret Ann Jefferson (Jeff), Walter Ritchie (Stacy), Kim Ritchie and Bonita Shifflett; his sister Mary Graves (Cecil); his sister-in-law Pat Ritchie; his grandchildren, Jarrett, Tracy, Brittany, Toni, Jonathan, Krystle, Jeffery, Courtney, Nicholas, Ryan, Andrew, Morgan, Chance and Chase; and his close friends, Bessie Decatur, Pat, Ronnie Morris, Brenda and Pete Backe. He is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren.
