He was predeceased by: his parents, Eura J. Carpenter, Sr. and Macel C. Seabolt Carpenter; and his brothers, Allen "Bert" Carpenter, Virgil E. Carpenter, Eura J. "Junior" Carpenter, Jr. and S. Navy.

He is survived by: his wife Harriet E. "Liz" Carpenter; his son Daniel W. "Danny" Carpenter (Robin); his siblings, Reba Streaker, Janet Crandall and Sidney Carpenter; his granddaughters, Victoria L. "Tori" Carpenter, Lacee A. Carpenter and Chloe Heimer; his great grandchild Charlotte O'Hara; his grandson Cody Herrington; and his nephew Mike Lanford. He is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
