He was predeceased by: his parents, Garry M. Thomas and Virginia R. Thomas; his wives, Arvazine S. Thomas and Faye G. Thomas; and his children, Denby Mason Thomas, Jr. (Buddy) and Kathy.

He is survived by: his children, Robert L. Thomas, Eddie Jones and Debbie Blake; his daughter-in-law Jan Potter; and his grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan, Kari, Christine, Nathaniel and Meredith. He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
