It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edith Burton Gilliland (Gladys, Virginia), born in Halifax, Virginia, who passed away on November 10, 2019, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband William Carroll Gilliland Sr. Mrs; her parents, Robert Lee Burton and Mary Rudder Burton; her grandchildren, Claudia B. Gilliland and Landon B. Gilliland; and her siblings, Irene B. Woodall, Ray D., Robert Jr., Frank, Roy D., Morell, Hubert, Joe, Lemeil, John and Abrie Burton.
She is survived by: her children, Carroll Gilliland (Shirley) of Rustburg, Michael Gilliland of Gladys, Nancy G. Barnes (Terry) of Lynchburg and Martha G. DeJarnette of Rustburg; and her sisters, Beryl Camden of Madison Heights, Sue Scott of Gladys and Ruby Jennings of Gladys. She is also survived by four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
