He was predeceased by: his parent Wayland S.; his brothers, Wayland, John, Leroy, Homer and Henry; his grandsons, Sebron "Sebe" Kitchen and Greg Lyle; and his sons-in-law, Lee Carter and Leonard Gabriel.
He is survived by: his parent Grace Lyle; his spouse Katherine "Kitty" Lyle; his children, Willis Lyle, Jr. (Glenna) of Waynesboro, Michelle "Shelly" Kitchen (Earl) of Wingina, Amy Benson (Jeff) of Stuarts Draft, Tracy Carter of Gladstone and Lori Gabriel of Dillwyn; and his brother Douglas Lyle (Donna) of Staunton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
