It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sherry Diane Sawyer (Gate City, Virginia), who passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 66, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Chester Alley; the father of her children Jerry Vaughn, Sr.; and her husband Charles Travis Sawyer. She is survived by: her mother Jerroline Owens Alley Douthat (Gene) of Kingsport, TN; her children, Jerry Vaughn, Jr. and Tesha Vaughn of Knoxville, TN; her sister Robin Alley Madden (James) of Kingsport, TN; her grandchildren, Jalen and Keila Vaughn (Payton Ball) of Fort Blackmore, VA; her nephews, Logan Madden (Katy) of Kingsport, TN and Dustin Madden (Danielle); and her great-nephew Quentin Madden.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Gate City Funeral Home (136 Beech St, Gate City, VA 24251). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 1:30 PM at the McNew Cemetery McNew Cemetery.
