It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rita Octavia Dalton of Gate City, Virginia, who passed away on October 3, 2022, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Carter and Nancy Carter of Bluefield, VA; and her nephew Jamie Carter. She is survived by: her husband Claude "Sonny" Dalton, Jr.; her daughter Ashley Thornburg (Josh Gibson); her stepchildren, Michelle Eller (Robert) and John Dalton (Cindy); her grandchildren, Levi, Brooklyn, Henry, Joey, Johnny, Tony and Justin; and her sisters, Wanda Shradder (Larry), Sherry, Lynn and Beth. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rita's honor to the charity of one's choice.
