He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Short and Devodia Short; his brother Jerry Long; his brothers-in-law, Robert Matheny and Duane Allison; and also, Hound Dog, Pookie and Angel.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Short; his daughter Cassie Renee Fales (Graham); his siblings, Mary Allison and George Short; his nieces, Senora Smith (Tommy) and Briana Short; his nephew Christopher Short; his great-nieces, Candace, Madison, Peyton and Emersyn; his great-nephew Waylon; and his sisters-in-law, Peggy Matheny, Kathleen Melons and Sally Austin. He is also survived by many other aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, August 22nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Hite Cemetery (334 Oak Haven Dr, Kingsport, TN 37664).
