He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Carter and Nina Barnette Carter; his wife Lorene Ervin Carter; and his siblings, Wayne Carter, David Carter, Betty Roberts, Marcelene Sloan and Nell Bowen.
He is survived by: his son Eddie Carter (Cindy); his grandchildren, Jamie McLain and Regina McGhee (Joshua); his great grandchildren, Carter McLain, James McLain, Matthew McLain, Lucas McLain, Waylon McGhee, Charlee McGhee, Rylee McGhee and Addison McGhee; and his sisters, Thelma Rhoton, Paulette Rains and Brenda Gillenwater (Larry). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
