He was predeceased by: his parents, William Huston Burke and Mary Polly Wolfe Burke; and his siblings, Dwight, Ray, Joe, David and Jean.
He is survived by: his sons, Timothy Gaines Burke (Melissa) of Abingdon and Kelly Edward Burke (Misti) of Alcoa, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Camryn Alexandra Burke, Cassidy Grace Burke, Cadyn Elizabeth Hope Burke and Quinn Edward Burke; his stepgrandchildren, Allison, Abigail and Benjamin Belcher; and his siblings, Kent Lee Burke (Patty) of Kingsport, Tennessee, Louise Hartsock of Bassett and Kilene Nixon of Weber City, Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
