Gillenwater of Gate City, Virginia, born in Fort Blackmore, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 13, 2024 at the age of 89. He was predeceased by: his parents, Monnie Edna Gillenwater and Lane; his siblings, Edward Gillenwater (Iris), Virgil Gillenwater, Bobbie Jean Gillenwater, Mary Ann (Lonnie Gray) and Rosa Mae Gillenwater; and also Robert Gillenwater.
He is survived by: the mother of his children Eula Salling; his children, Dinah Hicks, Rhonda Hood (David), Tammy Newland (Jody), Christie Gillenwater, Tonya Gillenwater (John Willard), Ray Gillenwater and Chad Gillenwater (Chris); his grandchildren, Tara Kerr (Bill), Mandy Penz (Michael), Tasha Kennedy (Justin), Heather Butler, Miranda Jennings (Jordan), Taylor Clark, Ashlynn Newland, Emily Willard, Caitlin Bledsoe, Kassie Willard, Jason Gillenwater (Jennifer), Brad Hood (Meagen), Michael Hood (Stephanie) and Bryson Gillenwater; his siblings, Howard Gillenwater (Nell), Tommy Ray Gillenwater (Jan), Gerald Gillenwater (Deliliah), Shirley Butler (Coy) and Juanita Pierson (K. P.); and his sister-in-law Maria Gillenwater. He is also survived by 24 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren.
